Political leaders in St. Petersburg are about to vote on law that will make it illegal for any person to write a book, publish an article or speak in public about being gay, lesbian or transgender. The ruling party led by President Medvedev and Prime Minister Putin could make millions of people invisible with the stroke of a pen.

Voting for this bill will be on Wednesday.

I just signed this, and I think you all should take a look and see what it’s about, too! It’s making an already difficult situation for gay people, lesbians and transgendered people in Russia even more difficult, and Moscow are considering passing the same bill. This could pave the way to make this law national. It’s stifling free speech and it’s trampling the rights of these individuals, so take a moment to check it out!

So I just got the update that the voting on this bill has been postponed one week, until November 30th. But the bill might still be passed, so if you haven’t signed the petition, you can still do it, or spread the word to get other people to do so. YAY FOR PETITIONS! -gets pompoms and cheers signers on-
